In 2006 New Zealand’s health survey found that one in five children aged 2 to 14 years were overweight and one in twelve were obese. This is why I believe junk food should be banned in schools. Junk food in schools raises concern of obesity, focusing and attention and issues of availability.
Obesity in children is becoming a concerning issue. Obesity is bad for you because it makes you really unhealthy and leads to serious health problems. Children associated with obesity can suffer from low self-esteem and loneliness. A serious issue like this could affect a child's growing social development. I think this is why junk food should be banned in schools as it is a step towards caring for every child's health and welfare.
Sometimes when you eat bad food you can get tired and sleepy because it is not good for you. This is bad when you are at school trying to learn because you might fall behind in your schoolwork. Children who already have learning difficulties will be worse if they are affected by the effects junk food can have on your body. This is why I believe junk food should be banned in schools as it affects your ability to focus and do work.
A high number of fast food stores around schools is thought to be the reason why childhood obesity is a concerning issue. In poor areas there are more fast food and convenience stores compared to richer areas, there is too much junk food available. Some people eat junk food because they love it too much, not caring about health issues that their habits may cause. This is why banning junk foods in schools would be a good starting step towards making our country healthy.
Obesity in schools is bad and concerning as you can get way behind into your schoolwork and develop attention issues. Unhealthy students means being tired and weak when doing class sports. I believe junk food should be banned in schools as it isn't helping us reach our highest goals.
